Had a little success at Carroll Creek this afternoon and earlier this week, I landed 5 Rainbow Trout, 3 Bluegills, (one on the fly), and one hefty Largemouth Bass. All caught twitching the Trout Magnet in deep pools and slows runs. Carroll Creek hasn't been stocked since Fall (like 5 months ago), but it still has a couple fish left.
Like the other Frederick County Stream that my last fishing post was on, Carroll Creek has some Trout left and that have held over since the fall stocking.
Tackle: I fished Trout Magnet on 2lb test.
Summary: Carroll Creek is great right after stocking, but you can catch a few right before the next stocking.
Great Pics!!!
ReplyDeleteAre you using trout magnets with a fly rod?
No, I was fishing a double Nymph rig and streamers w/ the 3 weight Lefty Kreh Pro Series fly rod. But, I caught one Bluegill on a Mayfly, no takers on anything else. I was just fishing Trout Magnet on spin gear. You can throw Trout Magnets on the fly, I have done it before but some would judge. The Mini Magnet also works pretty good fly fishing especially for Brookies.
ReplyDeleteLots of people would judge, up until the point that you bring in the biggest trout in the creek with an unconventional setup. Then they'd be too busy being jealous to judge.
DeleteHow many size 8 - 16 black stoneflies and copper johns you think those fish have seen? (answer: a few).
Well, I have never see another soul fly fishing. So I would probably say that they haven't seen flies period.
DeleteNice fish! Here in Sweden the trout season is closing in at least. So hopefully I'll be out there soon.
ReplyDeleteHave fun fishing,

What sections of Carroll had you been fishing. I live just outside of Frederick and would like another creek. Email me at Bronzeback36@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI fish many sections from the tribs down to where it flows into the Monocacy were you must ask for access. This time I fished in Baker Park.
